J. Lyles Glenn IV
Of Counsel

Lyles Glenn serves in an Of Counsel capacity with the firm.  He brings a broad perspective that encompasses state government, higher education, real estate development, and law. Over the course of his 25-year career, he has had a tremendous impact for clients on many fronts. His is an invaluable source of counsel to the firm’s attorneys and its clients.

Lyles’ experience includes:

  • Leading or participating in the development, response, presentation, award, and award retention of approximately $400 million in state and federally solicited contracts since 2002.
  • Playing a pivotal role in business development opportunities for diverse entities such as a Fortune 100 energy services corporation and South Carolina’s leading supplemental insurance provider.
  • Negotiating a 12-year naming rights agreement for an 18,000-seat arena, one of the most successful athletics and entertainment venues in the United States.
  • Serving as vice president, chief operating officer and chief executive assistant to the president of the University of South Carolina (USC). In this role he served as the primary liaison for the USC president with all other areas of the university, including vice presidents, deans, athletics department and board of trustees. Lyles also led the team that structured and implemented a $55 million university enhancement effort that encompassed the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center, the Greek Housing Village, playing fields and pedestrian bridges. The deal included financing and acquisition of key properties around the USC campus.
  • Serving as the executive assistant to former South Carolina Lt. Gov. Nick Theodore (1987-1989), acting as the primary liaison with the General Assembly and state agencies. He also directed and managed the Office of Lieutenant Governor, the hazardous waste task force and the Commission on the Future of South Carolina.

Lyles is a member and serves in a leadership capacity for numerous state and local organizations and entities.
