William R. Harbison

Will Harbison is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group and focuses his practice on defending the interests of employers, insurance carriers, self-insured employers and large self-insurance funds. He has a particular interest in occupational disease.

Although workers’ compensation makes up the majority of Will’s practice, his experience also encompasses:

  • Product liability
  • Environmental law
  • Errors and omissions
  • Policies covering insurance agents
  • Securities arbitration
  • Trade secrets
  • Declaratory judgment actions

Will applies his knowledge of workers’ compensation law on a variety of fronts. A member of the South Carolina Bar, he has served as chairman of the Bar’s Workers’ Compensation Section. He was on the Editorial Board of “The Law of Workers’ Compensation in South Carolina” (Second Edition, 1998) and the 1992 supplement to “The Law of Workers’ Compensation in South Carolina.” He has published numerous articles on workers’ compensation in The South Carolina Lawyer and The Defense Line and co-authored editorials on the subject for major newspapers. Will also has conducted numerous seminars on workers’ compensation for the South Carolina Bar, the National Business Institute and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. 

In addition, Will has served as a gubernatorial and South Carolina Supreme Court appointee to the Magistrates Advisory Committee established to address concerns with and propose changes to the state’s magistrate court system. He chaired the South Carolina Bar Association’s Service to Indigents Committee and its Pro Bono Committee. His actions have not gone unnoticed. His peers selected him as being among The Best Lawyers in America®.

Will is treasurer of Trinity Housing Corporation/St. Lawrence Place, serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Richland County Library, and is a former board member of the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties.
