Matthew B. Hill

Matt Hill is a member of the Business, Real Estate and Finance Practice Group. He provides legal counsel to individuals, lending institutions, corporate entities, and real estate developers in connection with general corporate matters and transactions that involve the acquisition, development, leasing and sale of commercial real estate.  Matt’s representation often includes assisting clients with issues involving zoning, restrictive covenants, easements, and real property tax and assessment matters.  His experience includes:

  • Representation of borrowers and financial institutions involving commercial lending transactions in which clients seek to re-structure corporate debt, acquire additional real estate and/or increase working capital.  
  • Assisting national homebuilders with the development of new subdivision projects in South Carolina.
  • Representing landlords and tenants in negotiating, documenting and managing commercial lease relationships for office, retail, warehouse, and industrial space throughout the United States. 
  • Advising South Carolina corporations seeking to expand and grow their real estate holdings and corporate presence in South Carolina by providing legal counsel related to the acquisition and development of real property and negotiating additional leased space.

Matt is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and the Richland County Bar Association. 

Committed to investing personal time in the community, Matt is a graduate of Leadership Columbia (2004), Past President and currently on the Board of the Columbia Kiwanis Club, and on the Board of the South Carolina Wildlife Federation. In 2005, the Richland County Bar Association presented Matt with the Civic Star Award for exceptional and meritorious public service to the community for activities outside the practice of law.
