Lay Selected as President-elect of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association
John T. Lay, Jr., of Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims, P.A., has been selected as president-elect of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association (SCDTAA). Lay will serve a one-year term as president that will begin in November 2008.
Established in 1968, SCDTAA promotes justice, professionalism, and integrity in the civil justice system by bringing together attorneys dedicated to the defense of civil actions.
Commenting on Lay's selection as president-elect of the state association, Ellis Lawhorne executive director Tommy Little said, "John's vast experience as a litigator coupled with his strong leadership skills will be an invaluable asset to this fine organization. His enthusiasm to make a difference will be the cornerstone of his term."
Lay is a member of the Ellis Lawhorne Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He was recently named to the 2008 edition of Best Lawyers in America®, one of 11 Ellis Lawhorne attorneys to earn this distinction.
Lay earned his bachelor’s of arts from Davidson College and his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. He also serves on the board of directors of several charitable organizations, including Senior Resources, Inc.
