Over Half of Ellis Lawhorne Shareholders Named to 2009 Edition of Best Lawyers in America®
COLUMBIA, S.C., September 30, 2008 - - For the second year running, more than half of the shareholders of Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims, P.A., have been selected to Best Lawyers in America®. Eleven of the firm’s 21 shareholders will be included in the 2009 edition of the legal profession’s most respected peer-review publication. Ellis Lawhorne also is pleased to announce this is the tenth year that Earl Ellis, one of the firm’s founding shareholders, has been selected.
Published biennially since 1983, Best Lawyers in America is widely regarded as the preeminent referral guide to the legal profession in the United States. The Best Lawyers lists, representing 78 specialties in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., are compiled through an exhaustive peer-review survey in which thousands of the top lawyers in the United States confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The Ellis Lawhorne attorneys were selected out of a pool of more than two million entries nationwide.
All five of the Firm’s shareholders in the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group were honored for their work: F. Earl Ellis, Jr., William R. Harbison, Ernest G. Lawhorne, Mary Sowell League, and Lana H. Sims, Jr.
All three of the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice Group shareholders were selected: Rita Bragg Cullum, David C. Sojourner and Karen Hudson Thomas.
William O. Higgins and William P. McElveen, Jr., shareholders in the Business, Real Estate and Finance Practice Group, were selected for their work in real estate law. John T. Lay, Jr., a shareholder in the Litigation Practice Group, was selected for his exemplary work in commercial litigation and product liability litigation.
