More than Half of Ellis Lawhorne Shareholders Selected to 2010 Edition of Best Lawyers in America®
Columbia, SC -- For the third year in a row, more than half of the shareholders of Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims, P.A., have been selected to Best Lawyers in America®. Thirteen of the firm’s 21 shareholders will be included in the 2010 edition of the legal profession’s most respected peer-review publication. All of the firm’s practice groups are included in Best Lawyers.
Best Lawyers in America is a widely regarded publication considered to be the preeminent referral guide to the legal profession in the United States. The Best Lawyers lists, representing 80 specialties in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., are compiled through an exhaustive peer-review survey in which thousands of the top lawyers in the United States confidentially evaluate their professional
peers. The Ellis Lawhorne attorneys were selected out of a pool of more than 2.8 million entries nationwide.
All five of the Firm’s shareholders in the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group were honored for their work: F. Earl Ellis, Jr., William R. Harbison, Ernest G. Lawhorne, Mary Sowell League, and Lana H. Sims, Jr. This makes the fifteenth consecutive year Ellis has been selected as a Best Lawyer.
All three of the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice Group shareholders were selected: Rita Bragg Cullum, David C. Sojourner and Karen Hudson Thomas.
In the Business, Real Estate and Finance Practice Group, William O. Higgins and William P. McElveen, Jr., were honored for their work in real estate law.
In the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, John L. McCants was recognized for his work in construction law, W. Cliff Moore, III, was noted for his work in commercial litigation, and John T. Lay, Jr., was selected for his work in bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation and product liability litigation.
Tommy Little, executive director of Ellis Lawhorne, says having 13 attorneys selected as Best Lawyers reflects the quality of the Firm’s legal counsel and the stability of its shareholders. “Last year, 11 Ellis Lawhorne attorneys were selected to Best Lawyers. The fact that two more were recognized for inclusion in the 2010 edition speaks well to the quality of the legal counsel we provide, but it also reflects the strength of our culture. Our attorneys respect their colleagues, are committed to client service and satisfaction, have a passion for the law, and as a result, enjoy a work environment that promotes excellence.”
