Ellis Lawhorne adds two new attorneys

Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims, P.A., is pleased to announce two new attorneys have joined the firm. Austin Smith and Drew Walker have joined the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Smith will focus his practice on civil litigation and Walker will focus on commercial litigation matters. Ellis Lawhorne’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group now has 18 attorneys.

Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina (USC). He earned his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law, where he was a Board of Trustees Scholar. Prior to law school, Smith served on the Governor's staff as a policy advisor, providing counsel on environmental, agricultural and transportation issues. He also worked on
special legislative initiatives including tort reform and tax reform. Smith’s experience in environmental policy and administrative law includes service on the Southern States Energy Board, SC Biomass Council, and SC/GA Governor's Savannah River Committee. Smith first worked with Ellis Lawhorne as a runner during his freshman year at USC. While in law school, he returned to Ellis Lawhorne to serve as a law clerk.

Walker earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Furman University. He went on to the USC School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor. While in law school, Walker received the John Holland Scholarship and competed in a national moot court competition where his team won the award for Best Brief. Prior to joining Ellis Lawhorne as an attorney, Walker clerked for the
Firm for two years.

Smith and Walker are members of the South Carolina Bar.
