Lay Selected to Association of Defense Trial Attorneys
John T. Lay, Jr., a shareholder at Ellis Lawhorne, has been invited to join the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, a highly selective organization that welcomes only one defense trial attorney per one million people. Lay was the only attorney selected from the Columbia area.
Membership in the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys provides each member the chance to associate with the exceptional members of the defense trial bar in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The advantages of such an association include the opportunity to network with the most outstanding members of the law profession.
A member of the Ellis Lawhorne Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, Lay focuses his practice in the areas of complex litigation, commercial litigation, and product liability. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1991. He is the past-president of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, was recently selected
to the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America® and was recognized as a 2010 South Carolina Super Lawyer. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
