Walker selected as 2010 recipient of Gary Walker Scholarship for Trial Academy
Ellis Lawhorne is pleased to announce that Breon Walker is the 2010 recipient of the Gary Walker Memorial Scholarship to attend the International Association of Defense Counsel’s (IADC) Trial Academy at Stanford University. The scholarship is awarded annually to one minority and/or female attorney in the country to attend the Trial Academy, which is one of the oldest and most well respected programs for developing defense trial advocacy skills. The program is held July 31 through August 6 at Stanford.
Walker’s selection was based on her qualifications, trial experience and her displayed
commitment to the advancement of the defense trial bar. “Bre is well-deserving of this scholarship,” says Ellis Lawhorne Managing Shareholder Bill McElveen. “With her skill sets, drive and enthusiasm, she is already a solid defense attorney. This experience will elevate her to the next level and add more value to those clients she represents.”
Walker is a member of the Ellis Lawhorne Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, where she focuses her practice on defense litigation. Prior to joining Ellis Lawhorne, Walker practiced in both the civil and criminal divisions of the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General. She earned her juris doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2003. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Richland County Bar Association.
