Practice before State Governmental Entities
We appear before numerous state entities, including:

· South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control – Representing clients in all matters under DHEC’s jurisdiction, including permitting, compliance, and enforcement proceedings. See also our Public Utilities practice page
· South Carolina Department of Revenue – Representing clients on utility, telecommunications and technology-specific state tax issues.
· South Carolina Securities Commissioner – Representing broker-dealers and their registered representatives in all types of proceedings under the Securities Commissioner’s jurisdiction, including civil disciplinary investigations, broker-dealer registration, and state securities registration matters.
· South Carolina Administrative Law Court – Handling contested cases arising from the decisions of many administrative agencies, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) applications under the jurisdiction of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), South Carolina Department of Revenue alcoholic beverage permit proceedings, and DHEC (including OCRM) enforcement and permitting proceedings.
Practice before Local Governmental Entities
We practice before many city and county governments and
their boards and commissions. Our experience in these matters encompasses,
among other things, local taxation, franchising, zoning and land use,
procurement, environmental and development ordinances, and general advocacy for
particular outcomes desired by our clients.
Procurement Review Panel of the State Budget and Control Board
We have successfully challenged and defended procurement awards issued by the South Carolina Budget and Control Board for purchases ranging from very sophisticated and costly computer hardware and software systems to tractors.
