Intimate knowledge of the appellate process and appellate issues are valuable tools in a trial attorney’s arsenal. Having this knowledge during the trial of a case is crucial to effectively protecting and preserving the record for appeal.

Ellis Lawhorne’s litigation and workers compensation attorneys have broad experience in handling appeals of federal and state trial court decisions, as well as appeals from administrative agencies and local governmental entities. Our attorneys routinely handle cases from their inception to their conclusion in an appellate court, if necessary. In addition, other firms retain our attorneys to prosecute or defend appeals on behalf of their clients.

Because our attorneys have this experience, it is not necessary for us to transfer the case, either within the firm or outside the firm, once it reaches the appellate level. We find it more efficient and cost effective for our clients to have the trial attorney manage and present the case on appeal.
